General job description functional lead

  • Setting up and executing projects within your functional domain

  • Creating a strategy in line with Volt Belgium's vision

  • Growing and leading a team to execute these projects and strategy

  • Collaborating with other Belgian functional teams, the board, and the European functional team

Specific tasks and responsibilities for communications lead

  • Coordination and recruitment of policy facilitators for the different policy groups and if needed facilitate policy groups

  • Activating and setting up inactive/non-existing policy groups

  • Organising policy events online and offline

  • Communication of the policies to our members and the public

  • Ensuring the delivery of the proper documents when requested by the executive board or the General Assembly

  • Working together with the two current policy co-leads

In practice: the day to day

  • Regular calls: be it group calls with your team, be it one to one calls with your team members or a board member.

  • Organizing: making sure your team is active and working smoothly, setting up an event related to your functional domain (a group call, or a bigger event), or actually executing work related to your functional domain

  • Contact person: members and staff members are able to reach you regarding your functional domain.

  • Being supported: you will have regular contact with a dedicated board member regarding your functional domain to which you can ask questions and relay problems/frustrations you might have. They will support you in any way possible, be it with resources or by being the voice of your functional domain within the board.

Requirements and expectations

  • You are proactive and well-organized

  • You have communication skills

  • You speak English and preferably at least one of the national languages

  • You are able to navigate our digital environments or are willing to learn

  • You are willing to make a long-term commitment (at least one year)

  • You are available and willing to make a time commitment for about 8-10 hours per week.
